High above the city in Tortosa is the Castillo de la Suda. It is a former Muslim fortress and is now used as a hotel by the Parador chain. From here you have a fantastic view of the valley of the Ebro and the mountains of this Tarragona region behind it.
The building was partially destroyed during the Spanish Civil War but rebuilt in the early 80's. Archaeological research revealed Roman, Arabic and Gothic building structures.
The city has a beautiful promenade along its lifeline, the Ebro. In the blue hour in particular, you can take beautiful pictures and with the help of long exposure times, the Ebro looks like a silver mirror for the lights of the city.
The cathedral, which lacks the towers, looks a bit strange. During a visit, you quickly forget this special feature when you make a pilgrimage through the mighty halls and the beautiful cloister.
