An impressive way of the cross leads from the former camelite monastery and today's Pousada Mosteiro Amares to the pilgrimage site of Santuario de Nossa Senhora da Abadia. The beautiful pilgrim location between mountains also show the origins of the Cistercian monastery in Portugal. Fed by many tributaries, the "Rio Nava" rises here and the swirling waters with their moss-covered stones, the waterfalls or a round bridge, the Ponte do Rio Nava, offer very beautiful motifs for long exposure.
A gray filter was used for the long exposures in order to be able to work with the smallest possible f-number. This avoids possible diffraction blurring, which can occur with larger dimming. Optimally to avoid diffraction blurring, aperture 8 or a smaller aperture number would have been, but this in turn would have had a negative effect on the depth of field. But the compromise with aperture 16 worked just fine.
