Streetart in Portugal i.e. by Bordelo and Empty Belly

Continent or ocean
Country

Portugal and the ocean are part of it, and so maritime motifs in street art are found to fit even when they appear on ruins under high voltage power lines. The fish chosen here as the lead (unfortunately without a recognizable signature) belongs in this category and we were able to look at this beautiful picture just before a highway entrance near Aveiro.

The Portuguese Artur Bordalo pursues a special mission with his works - he points with his street art on the gigantic waste production of today's society and created under the stage name Bordalo II huge animal installations just from garbage. He collects scrap and garbage on the street, in forests and on junkyards. His "Trash Animals" draw attention to the threat to the habitats of these animals. The gigantic fox, which is three storeys high on a wall, we have seen and admired in Lisbon.

Traveling by ferry from Lisbon to Cacilhas, a town in the district of Almada on the south bank of the Tagus, opposite Lisbon, one arrives at a promenade of dilapidated harbors that represent an ideal "canvas" for street artists.

In Aveiro you will find u.a. the works of three well-known street art artists: Empty Belly, VHILS and Antonio Conceição. Empty Belly constructs his images of white dots and has spotted a huge ultrasound image on a house-high wall. Near the train station you can see a work of the Portuguese VIHLS. He carves high-rise portraits from suitable walls - never seen before.

Not far from VHILS is the work of Antonio Conceição, an artist who shows people 3D in 2D.
