Holography Museum Lauk in Pulheim

In October 1982 I published an article entitled "Laser technology - breakthrough successful" as the specialist editor of "Idea - Das Magazin für Ingenieure". Since holography was one of my areas of specialization during my studies at the Ruhr University in Bochum, this interesting and future-oriented technology should of course not be missing. In order to cover the wide range of their areas of application, e.g. to round off the nondestructive testing of materials, etc., the artistic aspects of holography should also be examined. While researching, I found Mr. Lauk's Holography Museum in Pulheim and, in conversation with him, I learned a lot about the growing art scene of holography, which I had not known up until that point.

At that time, I sent a team of photographers to Pulheim to have selected holographic exhibits photographed there. After the laser contribution, the photos were supposed to be published in our magazine under the heading "Holography - Artful Technology" - but unfortunately this did not happen (and I received the photos as a consolation from the editor-in-chief). Unfortunately, the museum in Pullheim no longer exists. At the end of the nineties, Matthias Lauk closed his holography museum for cost reasons. Its 360 exhibits have been acquired by various organizations.

The photos from 1982 recently fell into my hands again - somewhat dusty - and their digital reproduction should now serve to depict the artistic aspects of holography. Unfortunately they weren't documented, so I can't give any information about the artists who produced them at the time.

Unfortunately, Mr. Lauk passed away in December 2009 - I would have liked to talk to him again.
